The Cooling Project for the Metallurgical Industry
The customer
The company, based in Austria, was founded in the mid-20th century and has specialized in the construction of machines and plants dedicated to the production of welded wire mesh, as well as the processing of steel used in the reinforced concrete sector. Over the years, the company has expanded its operations and now has numerous branches and representatives in various parts of the world, solidifying its position as a leader in its global market. It stands out for its ability to provide high-quality solutions with exceptional performance, significantly contributing to meeting the needs of customers worldwide.
The machines and plants manufactured by the company operate primarily in the steel and metallurgical sectors, where environmental and operational conditions can be particularly challenging. Electrical panels are often integrated or positioned alongside the supplied machines. This placement means that the electrical panels operate near areas with extremely high temperatures, conditions not commonly encountered in other industrial fields.
These operational conditions necessitate the use of electrical panels equipped with devices capable of dissipating substantial amounts of heat. However, this requirement clashes with the installation space constraints, which are often quite limited, whether the placement is inside or outside the electrical panel.
The application, therefore, demands air conditioners with a compact footprint but high cooling capacity to ensure functionality even in high-temperature environments.
This translates into the need to plan layouts in an optimized manner to make the best use of the available space.
Thanks to its decades of experience in industrial cooling and its extensive product range, Cosmotec was able to offer the customer an effective and tailored solution to meet their needs. The SlimIn CDE line of air conditioners was specifically designed to operate and deliver excellent performance even in high-temperature environments.
This range of air conditioners can function in ambient temperatures of up to 60°C without compromising performance and can withstand peaks of up to 62°C for short periods. Furthermore, their innovative design offers remarkable installation flexibility, fully addressing the customer’s space constraints and requirements.
The units are engineered for ease and speed of installation, featuring components such as positioning inserts, quick electrical connections, and an integrated gasket on the rear of the air conditioner, making assembly operations simple and efficient.
The project involves the annual supply of approximately 100 SlimIn air conditioners in the CDE20 and CDE30 models, available in 400/460V power configurations.
Thanks to the solution proposed by Cosmotec, the customer successfully combined space-saving requirements with the need for high-temperature operability, ensuring a safer and more comfortable working environment, even for operators.
Maintaining an optimal temperature for the electrical panels is crucial to ensuring operational reliability and reducing operating costs, also achieved through a significant extension of component lifespan. The partnership with Cosmotec has proven essential, not only in addressing immediate challenges but also in supporting the company’s growth and innovation in the global market.
Reliability
The air conditioners operate optimally even at high temperatures, maintaining performance at levels of around 60°C without compromise.
Compactness
With a reduced depth, the air conditioners minimize space requirements both inside and outside the electrical panel, enabling easy installation in confined spaces.
Ease of Installation
The air conditioners are designed with solutions that make installation quick and intuitive, reducing downtime
