The Customer

The company is a leading firm in the design and manufacturing of outdoor electrical panels. It provides solutions for various applications including energy, telecommunications, mobile radio, and transportation.

Project Requirements

The project required:

  • Cooling capacity of approximately 375W with internal temperatures of 28°C and external temperatures of 35°C (CVO05), and cooling capacity of approximately 600W with internal temperatures of 25°C and external temperatures of 35°C (CVO11)
  • Set point of 25°C (CVO05) and 23°C (CVO11)
  • Low noise levels with temperatures below 30°C. The cabinets are located near residential areas, so noise during nighttime hours needed to be significantly reduced.
  • Minimum DeltaT (temperature difference between intake and discharge air) possible to achieve uniform temperature distribution inside the electrical panel
  • Minimal maintenance to perform the fewest interventions and ensure adequate protection against sand and dust in the air

Proposed Solution

Key features of the Protherm Outdoor CVO

  • Design: The unit was entirely designed by Cosmotec and tested in our climate chamber.
  • Precision: The required cooling capacity values were achieved. The CVO05 air conditioner has a delta T° (temperature difference between intake and discharge inside the cabinet) of approximately 6°C; the CVO11 has a delta T° of approximately 4°C.
  • Low noise levels: The air conditioner achieves very low noise levels at low temperatures: <60dBa at temperatures below 30°C.
  • Reliability: The air conditioners provide IP54 protection between the conditioner and the electrical cabinet. Additionally, they can operate without the use of a filter thanks to the wide fin spacing of the condenser. The electronic board is located in the internal circuit of the air conditioner.
