A new model has been added to the range of chillers using low-global-warming-impact refrigerants: the WRA505SSBX00Z00. Its R513A refrigerant has a GWP of 631 and complies with Regulation (EU) 2024/573. Classified as A1 for safety, this refrigerant is neither toxic nor flammable, allowing the chiller to be used without additional safety measures. This new launch is part of our product adaptation plan in response to the European F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573, which we discussed a few months ago in the article “Cosmotec’s Response to the New EU 2024/573 F-Gas Regulation”.
This unit is also ErP Compliant, meeting the requirements of the European ErP 2021 – SEPR HT Regulation (EU) 2016/2281, which defines the minimum energy efficiency requirements for chillers.
The WRA505SSBX00Z00 is the flagship model in the Cosmotec chiller range for laser machine cooling. You can discover all the advantages of our products for this application on our dedicated page.

Precision
The chiller is equipped with an electronic thermostatic valve, brushless EC fans and a hot gas bypass valve. Coordinated by the LASERPACK control system, these components maintain the process fluid temperature within a hysteresis of +/-0.5K, even under variable thermal load conditions.
Thanks to its two cooling circuits, with a three-way modulating valve and dedicated pumps, the WRA505SSBX00Z00 independently controls the operating temperature of the laser source and the optics, ensuring rapid, efficient, and reliable laser operation in all working and environmental conditions.
Speed
With the Heating function, a pre-heating resistor raises the temperature of the cooling water to the desired level. This allows the laser machine to resume operation quickly after a break or shutdown, even if it is located in cold environments.
Flexibility
The 400/3/50 460/3/60 power supply allows the chiller to be installed in most countries.
Reliability
- The non-ferrous circuit preserves the process fluid from any contamination.
- A differential pressure switch and an antifreeze probe protect the evaporator from the risk of freezing.
- The hydronic module, suitable for atmospheric hydraulic circuits, is equipped with a level sensor and an automatic adjustable hydraulic bypass valve.
- The particular configuration of the hydraulic circuits for the laser users generally involves the risk of cavitation during startup. A simple procedure on the electronic control display protects the secondary circuit pump, thus avoiding failures and machine downtime.
Ease
The pumps for both circuits are installed below the water line to speed up priming operations. Ball valves already fitted on the inlets and outlets, together with the included filter kit, simplify installation and maintenance.
