Printing
Application
The printing sector covers digital printing and, more recently, 3D printing. Digital printing includes various technologies: offset, digital, gravure, flexography, and screen printing. 3D printing, on the other hand, has opened up new scenarios relating to prototyping, with the possibility of producing samples, even complex ones, with significant reductions in time and costs.
Printing is highly interconnected with other sectors, as industrial prints are used for textiles, ceramics, flooring, laminates, glass, wood, right through to printed electronics, packaging, and even some biomedical materials.
Industrial printing, like many other sectors, is being shaped by the trends of green and digital transformation. The first aspect concerns sustainability issues, such as the use of limited resources, including water, and increasingly eco-friendly products and substances that must also comply with ever more stringent regulatory standards. The digital aspect relates to smart packaging labeling. In addition to being secure, durable, and environmentally friendly, it must offer increasing levels of connectivity to integrate with the product distribution chain and enable full product traceability.
Industrial printing machines have complex automation and control systems, integrated into the unit, which need to be cooled, often with size constraints.
Cosmotec air conditioners deliver high performance in a compact footprint, protecting electrical enclosure components from excessive heat as well as from potential contaminants present in certain industrial environments. Cosmotec liquid chillers also play a vital role in printing applications, ensuring stable temperatures for substrates and inks, thereby preventing adhesion issues and maintaining the quality of the finished product.
The main applications where temperature control of printing machines using chilled water is important include:
- The cooling of UV curing systems in offset machines, which allows for the reduction of overheating problems with lamps and reflectors.
- The cooling of calender rolls, important for avoiding alterations or deformations of the print materials.
- The cooling of the print heads, to eliminate overheating problems or nozzle blockages
